Luzhi Town in Jiangsu

Located in Kunshan city about 25 kilometers in the east directiion of Suzhou, Luzhi is an ancient and extremely beautiful water town. With a historical background of more than 1400 years and overing just one square kilometer, it has been awarded the great name of 'the first water town in China'. The Suzhou-Shanghai Airport Highway goes through this city. This city is 48 Kilometers away from the Shanghai Highway International Airport, in the north Wusong River connects the Grand Canal in the west and Huangpu River in the east. Shainghai Port is only 80 km away from the town. The whole town has been divided into 32 administrative villages and is having a population of 50,000.

Natural beauty of this place is ineffable. Decorated by several Old stone bridges, pellucid water, revered maidenhair trees and old-style adobes, as well as the traditional women's costumes, create an ideal 'civilized, rich, pastoral and harmonious' surrounding.   • Bridges of Luzhi Town
    Total number of bridges in this city are 72 among which 41 are well preserved. All of those bridges are different in design and style, but two of them are especially worth mentioning:
  • Zhengyang Bridge :
    Constructed in the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Zhengyang Bridge is the biggest stone bridge in Luzhi town.
  • Dongmei Bridge :
    Located on the eastern side of the town, Dongmei Bridge is famous for its marvellous structure and innumerable Buddhist designs, which have been enlisted in the history of Chinese bridges.

Some of the most famous temples of ancient China are located in this ancient town:

  • Baosheng Temple - constructed in the year 503
  • Xiao House - constructed during the reign of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
  • Wansheng Rice Shop - Built in 1910
