The Tongli Town in Jiangsu is one of the important ancient town of China. This ancient town of China has a history of about 1000 years. This is also famous as a water township in China. The bridges in the Tongli Town in Jiangsu is an important attraction. There are around forty nine bridges made of stone which links the various important parts of the city. These bridges are of different styles and accordingly they join all the seven islands which are made from the fifteen rivers and five lakes on which the town of Tongli stands. Some of the important bridges here include Peace and Tranquility Bridge, Luck Bridge and Lasting Celebration Bridge. These three bridges are jointly known as Ternate Bridges. The Ternate Bridges also signify good luck and because of this people walk through the bridges during their wedding as well as birthdays even.
The Tongli Town in Jiangsu is also known for various residential houses. The houses are such that the place is now known as “Museum Of Ancient Architecture” . Some of the houses situated here are known to be constructed during the Ming as well as Qing dynasty. All the houses are located very near to the river banks. Here in the Tongli Town in Jiangsu you will find that the houses are decorated with carved windows, furnitures of porcelain, flying eaves, draper gardens, clay bricks, small stair cases and many more things.
In the year 1981, the Tongli Town in Jiangsu has been declared to be one of the national tour towns. There are thirteen such tour towns here. This place can be visited both as a historical attraction as well as tourist resort as well.
