Mt.Taishan in Shandong is located in the center of the Province of Shandong , with a total area of 426 sq km. This mountain is the highest peak in Shandong with an elevation of 1,545 meters and is called the "Chief of the Five Sacred Mountains " and " First Mountain under Heaven." With its ample cultural treasure, Mt.Taishan is observed as a sanctified mountain and simultaneously symbolizes the Chinese national spirit. From ancient times to the Qing Dynasty , different emperors visited this sublime mountain to hold grand ceremonies in order worship the Gods of Heaven and earth. On the mountain there are 22 ancient construction complexes, over 100 other buildings, more than 1,800 above carved stones, nearly 20,000 ancient trees and countless poems and masterpieces, written by scholars throughout different dynasties, altogether it makes Mt. Taishan in Shangdon the paradigm of oriental culture.

Natural significance of this mountain is equally astonishing like that of its traditional one. Mt Tai is a tilted fault-block mountain with inclination from the north to the south. It is the most ancient example of a paleo-metamorphic formation from the Cambrian Period in eastern China . Known as the Taishan Complex, formation of this mountain contains magnetized, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock as well as encroachments of other origins during the Archean Era.
Besides the Jade Emperor Peak , other distinctive rock shaping are the Heaven Candle Peak , the Fan Cliff , and the Rear Rock Basin .
Proper location of the Mt Tai is the oriental broad-leafed forest; about 80% of its area is covered with vegetation. The forest is comprised of almost 1,000 species. Some of the trees among this vegetation are really old and have cultural implication, such as the Han Dynasty Cypresses, which were planted by the Emperor Wu Di, the Tang Chinese Scholartree, the Welcoming-Guest Pine and the Fifth-Rank Pine, which was named originally by the Emperor Qin Shi Huang and was replanted about 250 years ago.
Being one of the most important cultural epitomes of China , the Mt. Taishan in Shandong can say in a very precise way the spirit of China . The Temple of the God of Mount Tai, known as the Dai Temple (Dai Miao) is the largest and most complete ancient complex in the area. Located at the foot of Mount Tai in the city of Tai'an it covers an area of 96,000 square meters. Other historical landmark temples on the mountain include the Azure Cloud Temple which is dedicated to the daughter of the God of Mount Tai, the goddess Laomu and the Divine Rock Temple . It exhibits the Thousand-Buddhas Hall with calico Arhat statues. Mt Taisahn, being associated with sunrise, birth, and renewal, is often regarded as the front most of the five famous mountains of China .
