The Great Wall Of China

The Great Wall Of China is one of the important historical relics in China as well as in the world. The construction of The Great Wall Of China started during the Qin Dynasty and it was completed during the rule of the Ming Dynasty. This ancient historical relic of China has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1987.

The Great Wall Of China passes through various mountains and plateaus, deserts as well as grasslands. This gigantic wall stretches around 6,700kms which is from east to west of China. But when you go in to visit this wall now you will see that some parts of the wall are in ruins or even disappeared. The wall starts from Shanhaiguan Pass and then passes through Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu and then reaches Jiayuguan.

After the Great Wall of China was constructed, the various dynasties which ruled China after that repaired it from time to time. This wall is considered to protect the three important states of Yan, Zhao as well as Qin. This also helped to save China from the dangerous invasions of the Huns. This has also made this wall a national monument of the country.

The Great Wall of China was mainly constructed with the help of various local and regional construction materials. It is known that a large number of soldiers, prisoners of wars as well as local people were employed to construct this wall. This wall is a proof of the hard work and tenacity of the people of China. Presently the Great Wall of China is protected and taken care of by the Great Wall Academy.

If you decide to visit the Great Wall of China , you have to first reach Simatai which is to the north east of Beijing. The best part of the wall can be visited from here.
