Qin Terra-cotta Army in Shaanxi

Qin Terra-cotta Army in Shaanxi are considered to be one of the important archaeological discoveries not only in the history of China but also in the history of the world. This excavation is considered to be one of the most important in the 20 th century. The Qin Terra-cotta Army in Shaanxi is considered to be related to the Qin Dynasty which ruled China from the 211 BC to 206 BC. It is said that when Qin Shi Huang when became the emperor, he decided to built a mausoleum of his own. This took 11 years and it is considered that a large number of treasures are buried here. Some of the potteries buried during this time were discovered by the peasants around 1974 which attracted the archaeologists. After their further research Qin Terra-cotta Army in Shaanxi were discovered.

The Government that is the State Council decided to build a museum here in 1975. After this when the museum was built it was named as Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses. This is also an important part of tourist attractions in China. The museum is built on an area of 16,300 meters square. There are three different sections in the museum which are known as Pit 1, Pit 2 and Pit 3. This museum was opened for the tourists as well as the local people on the National day of China in 1979. The museum attracts a large number of people because of the columns of soldiers in the front which are followed by war chariots.

Qin Terra-cotta Army in Shaanxi and the museum boasts of about 7000 pottery soldiers, chariots, weapons, horses and a lot more things. Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1987.
