The Yin Ruins in Henan were discovered in the year Xiao Tun Village which is in the city of Anyang in the Henan Province. The Yin Ruins in Henan were discovered by a group of villagers. The villagers discovered some bones and tortoise shells which were carved with various symbols as well as letters. After this archaeologists visited this place and discovered the Yin Ruins in Henan. After discovery of this place, this has become on important tourist attraction in China and is visited by a large number of people all over the world. The inscriptions found here are said to be written in one of the earliest characters used by man which is the Oracles.

The Yin Ruins in Henan are important because it was the capital city for 250 years. The Shang Dynasty first made it the capital city. Yin Xu is considered to be the ancient capital city in the written records of Chinese history.
The Yin Ruins in Henan is spread over 24square kms. The ruins have everything from residential places, palaces, districts, tombs, workshops and many more things. Other than this, there is the Heng River as well which also divides the city into two parts.
When excavations were done in Yin Ruins in Henan in the last century, a large number of things were discovered. These specially included various bronze items and artifacts. Various cooking vessels were among some of them. The heaviest and biggest bronze cooking vessel of the world was found here and is known as Simuwu Ding. Other than this various pottery items as well as jade were excavated from this site. There are further excavations still going in this place. It is said that there are various other interesting things to be excavated from the Yin Ruins in Henan.
The Yin Ruins in Henan are one of the major historical relics of China. It is ranked as number 1 among the 100 Greatest Archaeological Discoveries in China. It has also gained an important position in the list of World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
