One of the first national reserves in China , Zhangjiajie Scenic Area in Hunan is a wild and impenetrable forest characterized by a sub tropical climate. With a host of overpowering peaks, meandering creeks and one of the richest flora and fauna the ideal time to visit this savage beauty is during the winters and summers. The entire is manifested with some 9 great tourist spots apart from the boundless natural beauty.
The forest is a home to almost 149 different species apart from a variety of insects and birds. Among these the Golden Pheasant, Rhesus Monkey, Giant Salamander and Musk Deer are most noteworthy. The pervading silence of the place is often interrupted by the melodious chimes of the birds and the monkeys. Apart from a variety of animals Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has some rare orchids and with a whole host of flowers it sparks a riot of colors in the mundane lives of the traveler. Living plants apart the rare fossils dating back to the Ice age are yet another valued possession of Zhangjiajie Scenic Area in Hunan .
Located to the western flank of the site is the Yellow Stone Stronghold which happens to be the largest observing spot of the forest park . The major spots here are Tranquil Trail in Fir Woods, Imperial Edict and the Precious Box, Needle Peak, just to name a few. With colorful wild flowers at galore and replete with wild ridges and peaks the Golden Whip Stream is famous for its multicolored aquatic life. Overlooking the colossal mountains and valley the Yuanjiajie is rich with a coniferous growth featuring some important tourist spots like Mihun Stage and Back Garden .
