Transportation in Hong Kong is highly sophisticated and advanced and offers a fair rang of options to choose from. The transport network comprises of both public and private transport.

The following types of transport are used in Hong Kong :
Transportation by rail : Hong Kong can boast of having a very well developed train network system.
The Mass Transit Railway provides underground fast, efficient, clean and cheap transport. MTR gives you very easy access to the leading tourist destinations of Hong Kong as well as the entertainment spots.
Kowloon-Canton Railway provides passenger service and comprises of the following systems:
- East Rail: Operating between Hung Hom in Kowloon to Lo Wu in New Territories.
- West Rail: Operates between Sham Shui Po in western Kowloon to Tuen Mun in northwest new territories.
- Light Rail: Operates between New Territories town of Tuen Mun and Yuen Long.
Transportation by taxi: One of the favored transports for short distance service. Taxis are available in plenty and fare are also reasonable. The different colors of the taxis indicate the area of service.
- Red taxis : Operating in most of the Hong Kong city excepting Tung Chung Road and south of Lantau Island.
- Green taxis : Operating in the rural areas of New Territories.
- Blue Taxis: Operating in Lantau Island.
Transportation by buses and minibuses: The double-decker and single-level buses give access to almost all places of Hong Kong. The different buses providing their service in Hong Kong are:
- Kowloon Motor Bus
- New World First Bus
- Citybus
- New Lantao Bus
- Long Win Bus
Minibuses are small passenger vehicle carrying a maximum of 16 passengers. The different colors of the minibuses symbolize different routes:
- Red minibuses: Operating in routes that are not fixed.
- Green minibuses: Operating on fixed routes.
Transportation by ferries: The ferry transport offers the most scenic and cherishing trip on water. The ferries connect Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the outlying islands.
Transportation by tram: The trams offer a cheap and convenient travel to enjoy the city districts. They follow the east-west path across the north Hong Kong Island.
Transportation by private cars: The private cars are a very important and popular means of transport in Hong Kong. The private cars are in more demand especially in the places with fewer transport options.
The highly advanced transport system in Hong Kong gives comfortable, convenient and easy access to any part of Hong Kong.
